Q). How to Join a Renactment Group?
A). Find out where the events are, chat with some of the members, turn up and join in.

Q). Can anyone take part in reenactment?
A). Yes, those under 18 must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

Q). What kit is required?
A). Generally it is not worth buying anything until you have had a chat with some of the more experienced members. This will stop you wasting money on costume that is incorrect or weapons and armour that is of poor quality.

Q). Is there a reenactment group based near....,?
A). Look for what interests you and where a societies events are based rather than if they have a central base as most groups travel over a wide distance to attend events. If you are based outside of Southern England we can try to help you find a group that may be closer to you.

Q). What do Reenactors do?
A). They recreate the past. This can be combat, living history, archery, dancing , banqueting, craftsmanship, etc, whatever you get un out of doing

Q). What is living history?
A). Living History is where reenactors try to portray historical lives as accurately as possible.

Q). What is a multibash?
A). A multi society event, where members from different froups get together to chat, battle each other, and enjoy themselves.

Q). Where is the MCS based?
A). Loosely South East England, but the society has carried out shows in Western England, Wales, the South Coast, East Coast and as far north as Yorkshire.

Q). Do the Medieval Combat Society do anything apart from Combat?
A). Yes the MCS do Medieval Dancing to Medieval Music, Archery with traditional longbows and crossbows and enjoy Medieval Banquets. Members also have specific interests such as Medieval Costume making, Medieval gunnery, Medieval armourers and historical research.

Q). What roles are available in the Medieval Combat Society?
A). Generally people start off as a noble, squire or Lady, and find a role to suit them, which could be anything from Medieval Life, such roles may include:
King, Queen, Noble man or lady, Knight, squire, page, minstrel, archer, man-at-arms, Wench, Cook, Jester, Abbot, Friar, Bishop, Craftsman etc.

Q). Do you train?
A). Training is carried out in Combat, Archery and Dancing during the winter months, see the events list for details of dates and locations.

New members must be at least 18 years of age or have a parent or guardian join with them.

Q). The most common question is: Where are you based?
A). All over southern England really, we have members on the south coast, East Anglia, Midlands, West Country, West Midlands.

Q). Which group should I join?
A). Look at where a group holds their events, most groups travel a fair distance to events, see if you are prepared to travel to them. Is the group the correct time period, and are they a fun bunch, go to watch them and see what they do.
